Model 55.0% vs market 51.9%, +3.1 points of edge

The unpriced factor is attrition, and it is entirely one-sided. Clemson travels to Berkeley with eleven players ruled out, including three defensive tackles (Hevin Brown-Shuler, Kourtney Kelly and Markus Strong) and two starting offensive linemen in Adam Guthrie and Mason Wade. The quarterback behind that patched line is freshman Tait Reynolds, making his second career start, who has already absorbed eight sacks and is averaging 1.8 yards a carry. Cal is close to whole: a backup running back and a rotational defensive lineman are doubtful, and that is the list.

Market signal: this is the only game on the board where the books cannot agree. The spread spans three full points: FanDuel has Cal +1.5, DraftKings has Cal −1.5, and five shops sit on a pick'em in between. Three points of disagreement on a single game is a market that has not settled, and we are taking the best number in it.

Angle: kickoff is 10:30pm Eastern. For a team flying from South Carolina to the Bay Area, that is a body-clock road spot on top of everything else.

4 Patrick Mahomes · KC at MIA 382 yards and 3 TDs in the overtime win on Sunday night. Miami just gave up 35 to San Francisco. The one risk: an 11.5-point spread means KC could be up big and running the ball by the fourth quarter.
5 Bryce Young · CAR at CLE Leads the NFL in TD passes (6) after 287 and 3 TDs in the 34-3 rout of Atlanta. Cleveland gave up four TDs to Trevor Lawrence in Week 1. The 42.0 total caps the ceiling a little, but the form is real.

The fade: Matthew Stafford threw 4 TDs on Monday night, but the Giants lost their quarterback on the first drive and the game was over early. Now he goes to Denver, whose defense held Jacksonville to 13 points. Last week's opponent was the soft part, and Denver won't be.

4 Ja'Marr Chase · CIN at PIT Two touchdowns from Burrow in the win over Houston, including a 32-yard catch. Pittsburgh scored 3 points last week and should be chasing. The 42.5 total is the one thing keeping him out of the top three.
5 Chris Olave · NO vs LV 182 yards in Week 1, then 8 catches, 86 yards and a TD against Baltimore's defense. Now he's home against a Raiders secondary, and Shough keeps looking his way.

Just missed: Davante Adams had 195 yards and 2 TDs on Monday night, but see the Stafford fade above: Denver is a different test. Tetairoa McMillan (101 yards against Atlanta) is next in line if Carolina's passing game keeps this up. DJ Moore (AC joint sprain) is not a lock to play. If he sits, Keon Coleman (6 for 6 against Detroit) moves up.
